The Red Fox - Vulpes vulpes. Britain’s sole wild dog, the adults have no natural predators in UK and a stable population despite large numbers being killed by vehicles, farmers and gamekeepers annually. It is absent from some island areas but widespread elsewhere.
I have seen these magnificent creatures at night when driving, but fewer and fewer over the years in the countryside where I live. They flourish near humans; adaptable and living in social family groups they are to be celebrated for their tenacity and adaptability.
