The Red Fox- Vulpes vulpes. Britain’s sole wild dog, the adults have no natural predators in UK and a stable population despite large numbers being killed by vehicles, farmers and gamekeepers annually. It is absent from some island areas but widespread elsewhere.
I used to see more of these magnificent creatures when driving at night, but the rural fox is scarcer where I live. They flourish near humans; adaptable and living in social family groups they are to be celebrated for their tenacity and adaptability. A truly beautiful animal and this painting would sit well in any room of the house.
