Profile Tiger - Framed Print

£95.00

This is square print mounted in a 10 × 10 inch frame

Living near a wildlife park that housed tigers rescued from circus work gave me the opportunity to study these magnificent apex predators closely. Over time I accumulated many photographs and became fascinated by both their relationships with one another and their extraordinary camouflage - their markings dissolve their outline in shifting light and shadow.

There were two at the time; the female Amba and the male Rana. Amba retained a dignified and calm composure in all the times I photographed and watched her. A truly beautiful cat. I remember standing in awe quite close to the glass viewing window of the inside den area just watching her sleep one day. The size of this species is just incredible. I captured Amba in paintings twice in oils - this regal profile is my favourite

Tigers are classified on the IUCN as endangered and at high risk of extinction in the wild. Sadly three of the nine original subspecies are now extinct entirely. Tigers face a range of threats including loss and fragmentation of habitat, lack of prey species, poaching and of course human conflict as our populations spread.

This framed print works well in any room; the natural tones and dark frame compliment any natural décor.
